PEANUT BUTTER DAY

Once again, it is one of Daron´s favourite holidays--National Peanut Butter Day in the United States. Peanut butter is a very important staple in the American diet and has also started to become popular all over the world! Daron gives the fifth course a presentation on peanut butter to describe the background and uses for this wonderful treat. Afterwards, each student was able to try the peanut butter! It seemed like they really liked it!

LUNAR PHASES

With the fourth course, we are studying the phases of the moon. To better understand the lunar phases, we did a fun activity involving Oreo cookies! On a paper plate, we separated Oreo cookies to represent the eight phases of the moon--each time using less filling to show how much of the moon we can see as it spins around the earth. Watch the photos to see how it was done!

SCIENCE LAB

To better understand the digestive system of the human body, we completed an experiment of what happens to our food after we eat. Using only a plastic bag, a banana, crackers, and colored water, we were able to recreate the process of digestion, with the plastic bag representing our stomach. In the plastic bag, we crushed the banana and crackers together to represent chewing. We then added the colored water to the mixture to serve as the gastric juices for digestion.
Watch the photos to see the results! They are quite interesting.

THE SNOWMAN

The fifth course surprised Daron with a poem they had prepared about a snowman. She was very impressed by their English pronunciation. Watch and see for yourself! It was a great surprise.
