Thanksgiving Turkey!!

Today we celebrated Daron´s favourite holiday--Thanksgiving Day! The fourth thursday of November is a very important day in the United States and Canada. It is a day when families gather to eat traditional food together to celebrate autumn and the history of America.
Typical foods of Thanksgiving day include turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and stuffing. Daron explained the tradition to 5th course and showed some photos of past Thanksgivings. Afterwards, each student decorated a paper feather and wrote one thing they are thankful for. Each of these feathers were put together to create one Thanksgiving turkey!
Have a look at the pictures below! It was very fun!

HALLOWEEN 2013

These are the activities we enjoyed this Halloween 2013

And this is how an American had enjoyed it

Daron created a Halloween powerpoint to show 5th and 6th course. She brought lots of photos to show previous Halloween costumes and festivities. Coming from America, Daron has been celebrating Halloween every year since she was a child. It is very important in her country so it was fun to see some of her old costumes!

TRICK OR TREAT

 Trick or treat
Smell my feet
Give me something
good to eat
If you don´t
I´ll pull down your underwear

APPLE BOBBING

To finish the Halloween festivities, we played a traditional game called ¨Bobbing for Apples.¨ In a bin filled with water you place a few apples to float. Each student had to try to catch an apple in their mouth without using their hands. It is more difficult than you think! It was pretty messy but lots of fun!!
